The Air Traffic Engineer is accountable to the Senior Air Traffic Engineer for the maintenance and repair of navigational, communication and meteorological safety related equipment associated with Air Traffic operations at Leeds Bradford Airport.

 

Additionally, the role works closely with and supports the Engineering department in respect of contractor control, working closely with external contractors and business partners.

 

Snapshot of the role:

 The role sits within our highly skilled engineering department, operating across the whole airport. The main aspects of the role are: -

  •  To ensure the safe provision of Air Traffic Services and associated procedures, in compliance with regulatory and local documentation.
  • The Provision, maintenance and repair of Radar, Navigational Aids, Communication and Meteorological equipment used by Air Traffic Control Operation.
  • To hold a valid LBA Airside driver’s qualification
  • To ensure that equipment under the responsibility of the Air Traffic Engineering department is maintained in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • To monitor the status of the equipment under the responsibility of the Air Traffic Engineering department and notify the Duty ATCO & SATE as soon as practicably possible, of any degradation to normal operation, or incident likely to disrupt aircraft movements, company business or give rise to public interest.
  • To undertake day-to-day supervisory duties for the operation of Air Traffic Engineering department, ensuring scheduled maintenance inspections allocated for the shift period are completed, outstanding faults & maintenance are progressed and the accurate completion of all documentation.
  • To maintain a legible and accurate account of the day’s events in the Engineering log and familiarize themselves with previous entries.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of departmental instructions, procedures and regulatory requirements pertaining to the equipment under the responsibility of the department.
  • To undertake and complete training courses detailed by the Senior Air Traffic Engineer including training on technical equipment required to satisfy certification and competency.
  • To maintain equipment competency as specified by their training Programme
  • Maintain and configure LBA’s telecommunication system.
  • To ensure a working knowledge of risk assessment and apply the appropriate standards of Health & Safety.
  • Ensuring the reporting and investigation (as applicable) of all safety incidents in accordance with the LBA procedures.
  • To Design, construct, install and maintain ancillary equipment as may be required from time to time as directed by the Senior Air Traffic Engineer. Prepare documentation in support of submission of such equipment for CAA SRG approval
  • To resolution of any urgent operational matters in the absence of the Senior Air Traffic Engineer and within your competence.
  • To undertake specific duties allocated or delegated by the Senior Air Traffic Engineer
  • To maintain the highest possible standards, professionalism and customer focus when representing the department and the Airport.

 

What we are looking for:

 
 We are currently seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team in the role of Air Traffic Engineer. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in electronic systems within an Air Traffic Engineering Environment, including expertise in primary/secondary radar, instrument landing systems, distance measuring equipment, digital voice switch, and associated transmitters and receivers. A solid understanding of safety and Quality Management Systems is essential, along with strong motivational and interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative team setting. The successful candidate must be adept at both strategic and tactical approaches to ensure efficient maintenance of operational systems and projects. A minimum National Certificate in Electronics or equivalent qualification is required, along with proficiency in computer literacy. Additionally, the ability to obtain and retain UK CAA Personal Technical Certificates (PTC) is necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills are crucial for fostering effective teamwork, and the candidate should demonstrate the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. This is an extremely varied and exciting role – The hours are designed to maintain an engineering presence and support for ATC operations in line with the ‘ATE Support Guidelines’ (MATE/3/SOP 14) that includes an on-site roster pattern between 08:00 – 18:00 (local times) and off-site support between 18:00 – 08:00 (local times) in line with the ‘Additional Hours Policy’.

A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field is desirable.   • Maintaining the airport’s Health and Safety Management System, including document control, record keeping, staff training, internal audits and compliance evaluations
  • Carry out investigations in the event of an incident/accident, gathering evidence and keeping records.
  • Ensure staff and business partner compliance with LBA’s Health and Safety Policy and Protocols
  • Complete internal audits of LBA’s Health and Safety Management System, and external audits of Business Partner safety systems
  • Participating in/performing site-wide workplace inspections across all airport operations.
  • Work to achieve the targets, objectives and initiatives as detailed within the airport’s KPIs.
  • Collaborate with all departments and business partners to drive the wider safety agenda.

What we are looking for:

Air Traffic Controller

To support the ATC team, we are looking to recruit an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER to join Leeds Bradford Airport, to assist in providing AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES.

Main Responsibilities

·        The ATC function in accordance with MATS Parts 1 & 2, other regulatory requirements and the requirements of the LBA SMS.

 

·        The initiation of emergency procedures and reporting action in accordance with MATS Parts 1 & 2 and Emergency Orders.

 

·        Reporting of safety incidents in accordance with the established procedures of the regulator or internal Airport Company procedures.

 

·        Specific duties allocated and delegated by the HoATS.

 

·        In conjunction with the TDM, AOUS & FWM, the resolution of day to day operational safety issues.

 

·        In so far as their duties allow, monitoring personnel and activities, to detect operational safety shortcomings generally.

 

·        Liaison with other operational managers and supervisors.

 

·        To maintain the highest possible standards, professionalism and customer focus when representing the department and the Airport.

 

Person Specification

 

·        UK CAA Issued Licence with ADI/APS Ratings (Dual Rated desirable but will consider single ratings)

·        3 Years Experience of ATC operations in Class D/Class G Airspace (Desirable)

We are currently recruiting for Full-Time and  Part-Time   Aviation Security Officers to work on a 6 MONTH seasonal contract.

What you will work:
Full Time 40 hours - working a roster pattern of 4 ON 4 OFF, consisting of early shifts starting from 0300 / 0400hrs and afternoon shifts starting anytime from 1200hrs – There is a possibility to move to Full Time hours after successful completion of probation period.
**Please note all vacancies include weekends and unsociable hours and include a full training programme**

What you will earn:
Salary £11.10 per hour/ £23,150.16 Full time (Pro Rata)


Training:
To prepare you for taking on the role, you will undergo a four-week training period. During the first 2 weeks, you will undergo a full classroom-training programme with some of the best trainers in the industry – this 2-week period will be full time hours (and will be paid at the full hourly rate of £11.10 per hour if you're on a PT contract), so you must be able to commit to fulfilling full times hours during this 2 week period.


After completion of your classroom training, you will then spend a further 2 weeks completing some on the job training – here you will spend time putting everything you have learned into practice, in a safe training environment. This element of the training is also conducted on a monday - friday basis. 


The final part of your training will see you shadowing our highly skilled existing security officers enabling you to perfect your skills ready to face our customer base - this will be when you go onto your 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Eligibility criteria:
You must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, whilst additional language skills are desirable but not compulsory. Our Security Officers are required by legislation to have full colour vision and the capability to appropriately perform a range of duties. It is also important that you are physically fit as the role will require you to spend periods of time sitting, standing, bending and walking. The minimum age requirement is 18 due to clearance legislation.

You will also be required to pass through a range of referencing and vetting checks, including a Criminal Record Check and Counter Terrorism Check. You must also have lived in the UK for at least 5 years with a 5-year work history, unless in education.

What will you be doing once qualified:
This is a customer-facing role in which you will be required:

  • To carry out full and effective searches of baggage and airport supplies
  • To carry out full and effective searches of people
  • To carry out full and effective searches of vehicles
  • Undertake patrols of the airport terminal & grounds
  • To control access into restricted areas of the Airport
  • Check identification or travel documents for all passengers, staff and airport users requiring access to restricted areas
  • Deal with on-site security incidents with the team
  • Operate the x-ray equipment to screen all luggage for both the cabin and hold including other items being carried into restricted areas
  • Provide excellent customer service to all passengers travelling through the airport

Snapshot of the role:

As a Systems Support Analyst you will be responsible for providing a high level of support and maintenance of the airport systems and infrastructure. This individual will be an integral part of the IS Department reporting directly to the Information Systems Manager to help improve the support of airport systems across a single airport campus, consisting of 550 staff.

 

What we would need from you:

As a starter, we will need to see evidence of experience in supporting the following:

  • Commercial support (2nd Line)
  • Microsoft Exchange – 2016 and exchange online
  • Microsoft Windows Server environment - 2012 (and above)
  • Windows Active Directory and the associated services (Inc. DHCP, DNS, Group Policy)
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems and associated applications (i.e. MS Office)
  • Experience of configuring network switches p
  • Administrating a VMWare vSphere virtual environment
  • Operating as a 2nd Line Support Analyst in an ITIL service desk environment, effective in triage, resolution and proficient in the ticket handling process
  • Maintenance and repair of current IT equipment and systems
  • Windows 10 and 11 clients, installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Experience with MDM, MFA, Email/Web filtering and  Anti-Virus solutions
  • Experience administrating and supporting enterprise backup solutions
  • Customer-focused, with experience in providing advice and guidance to customers over the telephone, e-mail, and Internet with a proven track record of service delivery
  • Experience deploying applications using deployment tools, such as but not limited to PDQ Deploy and SCCM

 

And if you have any of the below experience, then even better!

  • 1 to 2+ years’ of experience with administrating Microsoft SQL Server.
  • 1 to 2+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft Office SharePoint Services.
  • Experience of supporting and maintaining secure firewall configurations and network infrastructure services, including IP
  • Routing and VLAN configurations.
  • Supporting Linux systems
  • Writing Powershell commands

 

With regards to education, it will be expected that that you hold a  degree in Computer Science or a related field or apprenticeship qualification level 3/4 and Industry recognised qualifications such as Microsoft Certified (MCP, MCSA, MCSE), Comp Tia, ITIL foundation, or CCNA.

 

This role really suits someone who will thrive at working throughout different parts of the airport daily. Whether it be supporting our fire team, our staff based in the terminal or supporting teams airside, you will never have many days that are the same.

The key strengths that we need for this role are:

  • Operation of the Safety Management System within the airside environment, including risk assessment and audit of own and third party areas, processes and equipment to ensure compliance with the Airport Compliance Monitoring Scheme (ACOMS). 
  • Responsible for the implementation of the LBA Wildlife Management Hazard Plan (WMHP) to ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • To undertake runway surface inspections and produce Runway Condition Reports in line with Global Reporting Format procedures (GRF) 
  • To undertake airside inspections; identify repair and maintenance requirements and ensure remedial work is undertaken as efficiently as possible with minimum disruption to operations. 
  • Carry out incident investigation and categorisation in line with Leeds Bradford airport safety management systems. 
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all airfield grounds including grass cutting, spraying, chain harrowing and perimeter fence line clearance as detailed in the LBA Wildlife Management Hazard Plan. 
  • To respond to extreme weather risks and co-ordinate the preparation of surfaces including checks on equipment stowage, provision of anti/de-icing pavements and snow clearing. 
  • To review Operational Works Instructions and supervise airfield work in  progress including the co-ordination and escorting of contractors, safety briefings, etc.
  • Responsible for actions detailed in the Leeds Bradford airport Emergency plan.
  • To ensure the removal of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and co-ordinate clearance of airside spillages and disposal of contaminants from runway/taxiway apron sweeping.
  • Administration of commercial activity schemes e.g. parking scheme for Ground Support Equipment, Airside Vehicle Permits etc.

  • Hold a valid UK driving license with the ability to obtain an airside driving permit.

Aviation Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Aviation Analyst to join the Aviation Development team within our fast growing business at Leeds Bradford® Airport. 

 

Leeds Bradford® Airport is expected to welcome 4.5 million passengers over the next 12 months, with further significant grow forecasted beyond. The role will involve undertaking analysis to inform and support aviation development activity, internal performance reporting, trend and competitor analysis as well as working closely with internal stakeholders such as Finance and Marketing.  The successful candidate will be required to assess current data sources and gaps in our analytical capabilities, understanding and recommending alternatives available in the market where relevant, and be the first point of contact for data suppliers both current and potential.   

 

Snapshot of the role:

 

  • Undertaking market and route analysis using a number of data sources to support aviation development and to be included in airline route pitches/business cases
  • Developing understanding of relevant market trends, including competitor analysis, to inform aviation development activity and the longer term aviation strategy
  • Developing performance reports, sharing with the necessary stakeholders where relevant
  • Passenger forecasting and ongoing assessment of capacity position; communicating trends and variances to relevant business stakeholders
  • Working with data providers to use data sources to the full extent, identifying gaps in sources available and assessing alternatives in the market
  • Identifying ways to streamline and improve current reporting and analysis
  • Fulfilling data requests from stakeholders; including from airlines partners and internally

 

What we look for:

 

We are seeking a candidate with relevant experience in the aviation industry, proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills, with a preference for competency in Thinkcell. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical abilities and be a self-starter, proactive in fulfilling the responsibilities of the role. Effective communication skills are essential, including the ability to present to both internal and external stakeholders, articulate complex analyses, and convey key messages clearly. Building robust relationships with stakeholders, delivering projects to high standards within set timelines, and adeptly prioritizing tasks are paramount. Collaboration within a team and proactive knowledge sharing are encouraged, alongside a continuous improvement mindset. Flexibility for travel across the UK and overseas, including attendance at airline meetings and industry events, is expected
