AVIATION SECURITY OFFICER
Leeds Bradford Airport
We are currently recruiting for Part-Time Aviation Security Officers
Assessment Centre taking place on 27th November 2024
Training Course to start on 10th February 2025
What you will work:
Shift pattern – 4 days on 4 days off
4 shifts will be made up of 3 days at 6 hours and 1 day of 5 hours
Leeds Bradford Airport operates a 24 hour operation but typically, part-time shifts are:
Starting from 3am for early shifts and from 12pm for the late shifts (flexibility is expected for varying start and finish times). This is to help manage the peak passenger flows through the security operation.
Early shifts are more regular due to highest demand being in the morning.
**Please note all vacancies include weekends and unsociable hours and include a full training programme**
What you will earn:
Salary £12.30 per hour/ £13,476.83 per annum (Full-time Equivalent £25,653)
Training:
To prepare you for taking on the role, you will undergo a four-week training programme.
Your training will include full classroom training with industry leading trainers, to ensure you are equipped with all of the knowledge to perform the role of an Aviation Security Officer. You will then have the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice with a first class on the job training programme to help build your skills in real life situations, but in the safety of a training environment.
The first 4 weeks of your training will mean you will need to work full-time hours during day time office hours Monday – Friday. In order to be offered this role, you must be able to commit to fulfilling these full time training requirements. Once you have completed your training, you will then move on to the rostered 4 on 4 off part time shift pattern.
**You will be paid for working full time hours during your training period
The final part of your training will see you shadowing our highly skilled existing security officers enabling you to perfect your skills ready to face our customer base.
Eligibility criteria:
You must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, whilst additional language skills are desirable but not compulsory. Our Security Officers are required by legislation to have full colour vision and the capability to appropriately perform a range of duties. It is also important that you are physically fit as the role will require you to spend periods of time sitting, standing, bending and walking. The minimum age requirement is 18 due to clearance legislation.
You will also be required to pass through a range of referencing and vetting checks, including a Criminal Record Check and Counter Terrorism Check. You must also have lived in the UK for at least 5 years with a 5-year work history, unless in education.

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the team at LBA. This is an exciting opportunity where you will work on bespoke and interesting equipment while benefitting from genuine progression opportunities, great benefits and a sociable shift pattern.
Role Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Senior Maintenance Engineer, the Maintenance Engineer
will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing both new and existing
assets within the terminal and outlying properties. The successful candidate
must be a time-served qualified Electrician with 18th Edition certification and
will take a hands-on approach to ensure LBA delivers an outstanding passenger
experience through continuous improvement and maintenance of current assets.
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all statutory
maintenance and standards required as a UK CAA Approved Maintenance
Organization are upheld.
Working as part of a small team, the post holder will work on a 3 on 3 off
shift pattern, consisting of 2 earlies (05:00-16:00) and 1 late (08:00-19:00)
Candidates must also have the flexibility to be on-call during their shift set
for any business-critical issues and to occasionally cover annual leave.
Role Responsibilities & Main Duties:
• Involved in a variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks for
electrical distribution and switchgear.
• Conduct inspections and planned maintenance of systems in line with
manufacturer’s guidelines and compliance requirements.
• Participate and provide input in a range of other planned and reactive
maintenance tasks, including plumbing, joinery, upkeep of baggage handling
systems (including motors and belts), and general building repairs/maintenance.
• Complete tasks in accordance with the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
program, as well as handle a mixture of reactive maintenance and project work.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under
pressure.
• Update and maintain equipment maintenance documentation and logs, produce
fault reports, and record events in accordance with data capture requirements.
• Take a hands-on approach when necessary to expedite the restoration of
systems in the event of service loss or impairment, prioritizing safety-related
systems.
• Support the Engineering Department as needed.
• Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards working hours, covering leave, and
being on call for major issues.

What does annualised hours mean?
This is new flexible contract where employees will work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern but will work variable shift times, for example in summer (8-12 hour shifts) and smaller shift times in winter (4-8 hour shifts). The monthly rate of pay will be salaried around core hours, meaning the same baseline pay each month regardless of hours worked. All shifts will be notified 1.5 months in advance.
What you will earn:
Salary £12.30 per hour/ £23, 728.91 per annum. Salary will be calculated on an average of 37 hours per week and will be paid in equal monthly instalments, regardless of set hours worked that week.
